Day 20, Yemen, Socotra Island, Wadi Ayeft
Get up early, do a delicious breakfast and start trekking with a young Socotri guide towards Wadi Ayeft! Already a lot of people are hanging around in Hadiboh. Muslims have 5 prayers a day. The first is at 5 am. They get up very early for the first prayer. My local guide cannot speak English, so he tries to communicate with his hands and Socotri and Arabic words. He is funny. At the end of the day I gave him the name Mogli, as he is very similar to Mogli. He walks never over a plant, protects the environment, sees every animal (even small spiders and insects), catches every animal...after he puts every animal on his head (especially crabs) and has a huge smile while walking with them. After the little show he puts them back in their environment. He knows also very well the plants and explains me which are for what kind of matter. In Socotra a lot of plants have been used against various pains.
