Day 6, Yemen, Socotra Island, Hadiboh
I feel happy while I am flying over the Empty Quarter towards Socotra Island. People are very polite and gentle. They look elegant and clean in their traditional clothes. The first Socotri I met was an old man at the airport. He speaks Socotri and Arabic. We communicate with our hands. He has a long barb colored with henna very typical for this region. He looks beautiful. People on the Island have very intense eyes. As a tourist you are like the main attraction on the island and feel to have a privileged position (no queue standing at the airport and many other advantages). During my first short walking in Hadiboh 5 or 6 families invited me to have dinner with them. Families usually sit on the floor in a circle and eat together from one plate with the right hand. Forks and knifes are no go's when eating. Everything is simple and just wonderful. My first impression is to be finally arrived on the island, which I am dreaming since a long time!
