Day 95, Cambodia, Phnom Penh
From 1975 to 1979 a man had the power over Cambodia. He had his own point-of-view about his sovereignty. He used his power for sick purposes. Within less than 4 years he executed one third of Cambodia's population. Three million people were killed during this period. People of his own race, friends and even relatives! Later on when he lost his power, he went to live in exile in France. He died at the age of 82 years and has never been punished for the Genocide. His name was Pol Pot. I am reading several books about this time and visited the Killing Fields, where people have been killed and the places, where they have been tortured. This story of Cambodia is incredible. You still find a lot of people with amputated arms or legs. The country is still recovering from this period. The worst is that the whole world knew and nobody helped this poor people. I feel pitty for this population! I personally cannot understand how people, humans, like you and me, can act in such a dishuman, non-natural way.
