Playing football

Day 10, Yemen, Socotra Island, Homhill

Today I decided to visit a school and offer a small quantity of pens to the teachers. They will give them to the children. Schools are very basic and not all parents send their children to school, as they need them for work. It is another world than in my homeland, but I am learning a lot here. During a long drive I saw two boys playing football. Without shoes on stony ground. We stopped and played together. In a short time all children from the village came to join us. We had a lot of fun together. Look at the football, it is not the latest Nike collection. Here you learn that also with very basic things you can spend a good time and enjoy the contact with other people. Children here have nothing but look much more happy than the majority of our kids. As families are really big, you meet a lot of children in Socotra. They bring a lot of joy and happiness on the island, every child is unique, every smile writes an own incredible story.
