Day 32, Oman, Wadi Shab
Wadis in Oman are really nice. In comparison to Socotra they are longer and maybe also more impressive, as you feel to be blocked in the middle of high mountains. I walked for 2 hours in Wadi Shab and also met a wild donkey. Oman has everywhere wild donkeys hanging around. Even near the highway. Because of the high mountains the temperature are cooler and you have a lot of shadow. If I would live here I would use the Wadis especially in the extremely hot summers of the Middle East. The fresh water and the different swimming pools can be used to take a good bath. Let me continue with the funny people I met during my travel. Abdulla was my trekking guide for the high mountains in Oman. He repeated all the time that I have to do some publicity for him, as he is the best guide on earth and he shows me secret places, where other guides don't go. He asked all the time: "Looks this very nice?" and wanted to know by this question if I like the place. During the trekking he was running, while he was afraid that we could not return before the sunset goes down. Always when he started a sentence with "Maybe" he invented things. For example he believed that the trekking circuit flag, which you can find on stones or on the trees to find the path, would be a military flag.
