Moments

Day 154, Nepal, Annapurna, Tilicho Lake, Trekking day 3

Starting altitude: 4'200m
Lowest point: 4'000m
Highest point: 5'200m
Final altitude: 4'200m

After two long and exhausting trekking days I decide to walk to the highest lake of the world. The trek is very hard for me, especially because I had two very long journeys and I didn't do any acclimatization stops. The never-ending walk towards the lake is difficult. While I am getting higher my breathing becomes stronger, the oxygen becomes less. The air becomes thinner and thinner, my body becomes heavier and heavier. I feel to be as heavy as an elephant, every step is a challenge. Suddenly at an altitude of about 4'600m I feel how my energy comes back. Maybe because I feel to be not far away from the target. The last half an hour I have to walk through the snow and the walk becomes again difficult. In the end I reach the lake, it is frozen. The way up was so beautiful, as I am next to the highest mountains of the world. The Himalaya region is unique!
