The burning heat

Day 138, India, West Bengal, Kolkata

It is so hot an humid, I never imagined that temperatures can be like this. Over 40 degrees at daytime and over 30 at night. I try to get used to, but it is not possible for me to deal with these temperatures. I am getting  more and more tired, day by day. It is the most intense place I am visiting in India and therefore the horrible climate is not helping me. Because of this fact and the fact that I am not able to find a good NGO to work for a little while in the Slums, I decide to escape towards the mountains. Today to escape a little the heat, I decide to spend some time at a mall, just because of the A/C. Everything is clean and artificial here. It doesn't really seem to be India. As soon as you get out, however, the traffic and the busy Indian life reminds you to be in Incredible India. Reality versus fantasy are the words that go through my mind. Western clothing and American fastfood in an A/C mall versus Samosas, Chai tea and Sari on the street. India is a Big Bazar and not a mall of brands.
