Day 204, Malawi, Ruarwe
PICTURE INFECTED BY A VIRUS :-(
This morning I am visiting the nursery. NYM has a free-of-charge nursery. Small children are playing together under the control of a teacher. Mothers have the opportunity to bring their small children every morning in order to be free to do some work. At 9 o'clock is porridge time and the babies are willing to help to get their plates and prepare everything in order to enjoy the breakfast together. Everything is very well organized. By the way my lunch consists of rice and beans everyday. As already mentioned the food supply is very limited and the market which is held under the central tree of the village is most of the days non-existent. In the three shops of the village only cookies or soft drinks as well as soap are available. Every time a volunteer is going back to Nkhata Bay we hope that he is coming with a load of food. Locals lack of proteins and important nutrition parts, as vitamines. Usually they eat Nzima everyday. A paste made by the roots of the Kasaba plant. Malnutrition is an issue in this area.
