In the bush

Day 243, Namibia, Tsumkwe

The first impact with the bushmans was not very positive. You have to visit them with a local guide that does all the translation and the home stay is not a real home stay. They have lost most of there traditions and are confronted with poverty and social problems. You have to book activities and we decided to go for hunting. But even this activity was a disappointment. Instead of real hunting it is a show hunting, which represents the hunting of the past. Well, it is time to go to Botswana. We choose a remote border and have to pass a 200 km long off road that crosses a desert. The road is horrible and for more than 6 hours we don't see anyone, we don't cross any car, we don't pass through any village and we are without mobile network. We drive slowly on the road and the day becomes night. 15 kms before our arrival at the paved rod we got stuck in the sand. We use our hands, feets and flip flops to grab our huge car put of the sand. After more than one hour we are able to continue our adventurous trip. We arrive at midnight at the first campsite and decide to sleep there. What a day!
