Spectacular reserve

Day 248, Botswana, Moremi GR

Today should be an easy day with a not too long drive towards the first campsite of the Moremi GR. however, on the way there we start to smell a strong petrol smell. As we are driving towards a remote area for the next two weeks we decide to get back and check our car in Maun with a mechanical. We do it and happily the issue is not big. Therefore we start again our drive towards the national park. We arrive at the entrance gate shortly after 15 hours. We decide to do a loop towards the black holes in order to see hopefully some crocodiles. A lot of wildlife is here and even some hippos, but no crocodiles. We drive towards the campsite and get lost a few times, even by using our GPS. Not every road is accessible, as in some the water blocks the road. In the end we arrive at the campsite 30 minutes after sunset. The ranger is infuriated and expects us tomorrow at 6 o'clock in the morning to give us a written warning. One more warning and we are dismissed from all national parks of Botswana. We reach our campsite, open the back and are shocked! What a mess, everything is broken, our salad dressing is spread over everything, vegetables and fruits squashed. In addition we see that the campsite is not closed by a fence and our neighbors tell us to pay attention to hyenas and other animals. What an exhausting day.
