Arabian Grand Canyon

Day 28, Oman, Jabel Shams
Today I went on a tour with a local guide. First we visited Jabel Akhdar (the green mountain). The view was fantastic and we also visited abandoned villages. I met a very old man who was wearing a big load of vegetables on the top of his head. In remote areas of the Oman you can find several abandoned villages. Oman changed a lot in the past years and Omani people always agree that everything improved in life. Before the changes life was very hard, now they have plenty of restaurants, nice houses and a lot of commodities. Life maybe is easier now, but people had a more traditional and healthier way of living before.
Later we visited Jebel Shams (the sun mountain). It is also known as the Arabian Grand Canyon. Jebel Shams is over 3`000 meters high and also the highest mountain of the Arabian Peninsula. The trekking here on the balcony way of the Jebel Shams was fantastic.
