Bienvenue a Pondicherry

Day 115, India, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry

Before starting my worldtrip I knew little about the meaning of colonization. After visiting some towns in Southeast Asia that are still very influenced by the period of the colonization  know much more the meaning and the impact of it. The town of Pondicherry was used by the french. There is still a french quarter with beautiful french buildings. I am in a Homestay in this area. The proprietary is an old french man married to an Indian wife. The children and also his wife are all able to speak french. Here you can find nice bakeries and go to the lycee. Everything seems to be as in France. It is indeed very strange for my eyes. As soon as you exit the french area you return in the busy life of India. This evening I enjoy a movie at the cinema. I am of course the only foreigner but have a lot of fun watching the film and also how Indians live actively what they see.
