Wildlife spotting

Day 125, India, Kerala, Munnar
Today I rent a motorbike and drive through remote areas of the tea plantations of Munnar towards the top station. It is a viewpoint on the top of the Western Ghats that divide the Kerala region and the Tamil Nadu region. The ride is beautiful and on the top I get in touch with many people. Tourists from all over South-India. With Indians in general I have only small talks. They cover always the same topics. They ask me from where I am, what my qualification is, for what purpose I am in India, if I like their food and their culture and for how long I am travelling in India. The next step is the Facebook account or mobilephone number. On my way down from the top station I see 4 elephants. A security guard explains me that these wild elephants are living on the other side of the artificial lake, which is very quite, as no roads pass through. Every day they swim through the lake to the opposite side to get their daily food. I am impressed that they are all able to swim (there is even a baby elephant) and I didn't know until now that elephants can live in such high altitudes. We are about 2'000 meters high.
