Day 133,
India, Karnataka, Hampi
After a
nighttrain ride I arrive in Hubli in the very early morning. As soon as I
arrive a very young Rickshaw driver approaches me. He asks if I am going to
Hampi and wants me to bring to the bus station. Hubli has an old bus station,
which is near to the train station and a new bus station. He says that we have
to go to the new bus station. He asks me way too much money and is rude. As I
am in the mood for a discussion I start to talk heavily to him. After a long
discussion we fix the price. I arrive to the new bus station and have to wait
more than one hour, as I just missed the bus. The bus starts to go and the
first destination is the old bus station. I am getting angrier. A poor man sits
next to me on the 1.5 seat and tries to communicate all the time to me. As I am
nervous I just want to relax. He doesn’t understand, touches me all the time
and speaks a language that is not really English but merely a mix of Kannara
and some English words. Finally after two hours of uninterrupted touching and
talking weird things he leaves the bus. Five minutes later the bus breaks down.
The break is not working. I am waiting in the sun and the heat to get another
bus. I take a second one, which brings me only to the next bus station and have
to wait for a third one. The trip becomes so long and hard. I am happy to
survive this day.
