Day 141, India, West Bengal / Gorkhaland, Darjeeling
I wake up at 3 am to get a jeep towards Tiger Hill. This hill at 2'700 meters altitude has a magnific view over the highest mountain of India. 8'598 meters is the altitude of Kenchendzonga, the third highest mountain of the world. The sky is clear and the sunrise fabulous. I even see the Mount Everest in the back of the Eastern Himalaya range. The colour at sunrise is like gold and these high mountains are very impressive to observe. It is cinema-like. I am walking the way back to Darjeeling, passing on the crest of a mountain through some small villages. People are very friendly and welcome you. I can visit an old monastery and enjoy a relaxing day back at Darjeeling.
